So, Life Kinda Sucks–now what?

March 26, 2013

If you realized how powerful you are, you would never think negative thoughts.

If you realized how powerful you are, you would never think negative thoughts.

Sometimes life just doesn’t go as you had hoped it would go.  Maybe it’s just today. Maybe it’s been like this all week–or maybe you’re wondering if your life is ever going to get better.  I mean, it’s seems to be that one adversity after another keeps showing up–as if the Universe is conspiring to make you miserable!   You feel,  you think, you know:  Life just sucks.

I know.  I’ve been there…more than once…  It’s not so much fun.  And when you are feeling like this, you may find yourself asking the questions:  Why is this happening to me?  What have I done to deserve this? Is it ever going to get better? Is this the life I am destined to live?

You feel overwhelmed, frustrated, depressed and even, at times, you feel angry.

Unfortunately, these questions won’t help your situation–these thoughts won’t keep the overwhelm and the adversity at bay.  The more you think them…the more you ask these types of questions, the more of the same keeps appearing.  It’s uncanny.  It’s like the universe is reading your thoughts…

And it is, the Universe I mean–IS “reading” your thoughts, per se.  Or rather, It’s “feeling” your thoughts and delivering to you a like-vibration and similar energy.  That’s how powerful you are.  How amazing….and how exciting!  (oh no, you don’t seem excited.)

OK, for a moment here, I am going to ask you to trust me.  I am asking you to believe that there is a Universal Law at work in your life, in this moment–in every one of YOUR moments.  It’s a Universal Law which states: that which is likened to itself is drawn.  Sure, that’s just a fancy way of saying “what you put out you get back” yet, it’s true!

So, stay with me.  Believe that you are that powerful and that you actually can design the life you dream about–that your life doesn’t have to always…well, suck.  By embracing this philosophy, you can begin to feel empowered–you can accept that you are entirely at cause for your experiences.  What great news!

Yet,  you still feel overwhelmed, anxious, depressed and angry because of your reality–your right now.  I understand.  It’s simple to believe the concept but it’s not so easy to make the changes you will need to make to create a life different than the one you are currently living.  You’re absolutely right. Go ahead, say it:  If it were so damn simple wouldn’t everyone be thrilled to be alive?  It’s a very valid question…

Life is a process of thoughts…thousands of thoughts strung together to make up your reality, yet you are in control to choose the thoughts that serve you best.  It’s not a once- daily- dosing of positivity–but that’s a great place to start.  It’s not a pill that you take with meals that will allow you to change your thoughts automatically.  No, not that easy.

Instead, it’s about persistence.  It’s about deciding you want to live a healthier, happier and more fulfilling life.  It’s about living on purpose–like taking vitamins to feel more vibrant, you think thoughts on purpose to move up the emotional guidance scale.

Here are just a few tips (to take with that glass of water 🙂  )

  1. Become aware of your thoughts (you can’t change that which you aren’t aware of)
  2. Do not create an identity of your situation.  (Accept that you are NOT your situation)
  3. Analyze what’s happening–then decided what you WANT to happen instead (knowing you can if you really want to will allow  you to feel empowered)
  4. Align with the truth of your situation (when you stop struggling with reality, you can use that energy to make the choice to change it)
  5. Refocus (your focus creates your experiences–change your focus and your reality begins to change)
  6. Take action.  (a dream will remain only a dream until you take the action you need to make it a reality)
  7. Be grateful.  (for all experiences because until you know what you don’t like–you will never know what you do…)

And finally, be patient.  Be gentle on yourself.  Enjoy the process designing your life requires.  To live on purpose means accepting the responsibility of creating a life you once thought may have been out of reach.

You can be, do and have all you have ever wanted.  And you can do this…one thought at a time.

With much admiration.
